“Single, San Diego-based Marketing Genius Creates Infomercial In Bold Quest To Find True Love…”

Sounds like the tagline to a horrific romantic comedy starring Ashton Kutcher and Jennifer Aniston, right?  One that ends with the guy falling in love with the girl who helped him make the infomercial, waaaay back before he became famous and desirable?

Luckily for the women of San Diego, it’s not a tagline. It’s real. It’s the true story of a man who got fed up with the traditional and online dating scenes (sound familiar?) and decided instead to use technology, a tried and true sales technique, and his unique brand of humor and charm to find the woman of his dreams. Tim Goggin, a 32-year-old entrepreneur (and improv comedy performer!), has created a professional informercial and accompanying website to sell….himself.

Just call him TimWOW.

We here at WTF?! applaud TimWOW’s efforts wholeheartedly.  We can’t help but support any outrageous attempt to find real, true, everlasting love!  In this ca-ray-zee post-dating world, no one can simply expect to sit back and read a book while the traditions of yore drop the perfect partner in our lap.  Many of us are creating our own paths to love by experimenting with different kinds of Non-Dates and various guys in our dah. But what happens if you have been exploring your options, figuring out who you are and what you want, and you still haven’t met that perfect person?

We don’t want to settle, and we all want to end up with someone who loves and appreciates our best selves and vice versa, idiosyncrasies and all. But what if you’ve done your homework and know exactly what you’re looking for – but aren’t able to find it?

One option is to make a grand, bold, telling gesture in the name of love.  And that’s what TimWOW is doing – while incorporating a little modern Techno-Romance as well!

Whether TimWOW’s method makes you swoon or weirds you out, you have to admit…he seems like a pretty great guy!  According to his infomercial friends (paid or unpaid? let’s not ask), TimWOW is “dependable,” “fun,” “creative,” “fun to be around,” “cultured” (he’ll go “pretty much anywhere that has, like, sausage and steak”), “open & honest,” “structured & responsible,” and he has “great conversations” and makes friends “fast” and “easily.”

Wondering if you’re the only one who thinks that this is kind of cute and endearing?  I should warn you – you’ve got competition.  His infomercial has been viewed on YouTube 102,817 times (as of this posting). And furthermore, I’ve been in touch with TimWOW himself, and aside from garnering some positive press for his efforts, he explains, “It’s been working out really well. I’ve gone on a dozen dates so far; dates with really incredible women I couldn’t have met through eHarmony or Match.com.”

Uh oh. The clock is ticking!  As his infomercial cautions , “Act quickly!  Supplies are limited, as there is only one TimWOW.  When he finds the right woman, the TimWOW store will be closed.”
