Listen, I don’t claim to be some sort of love guru — I’m just a girl, with a computer, and a handful of opinions and a lot of experience. And thus, I have some ideas about dating. Specifically, long-distance dating. Business Insider reports that, “about 3 million married Americans and as many as half of US college students are in a long-distance relationship.” Look, I’ll be real — that shit is hard. But if you’ve got a plan, and the love is there, you can make it happen. So here are my tips on how to make a long-distance relationship work. Hope they help! (And to those in LDRs, tell me how you do it. Let’s pull our resources!)

In case you missed it, there’s an un-retouched photo of Cindy Crawford (above) that’s been getting along with the Internet like a house on fire — it’s spreading, quickly. Why? Because it’s a legendary supermodel who is shown with all her “flaws”, which is something we don’t get to see often.
The photo is attributed to the magazine Marie Claire, and while it was originally reported that it was for an upcoming “no photoshop issue”, the truth is that it’s a leaked photo from a shoot Crawford did for Marie Claire Mexico and Latin America. This kind of bums be out, because it wasn’t a deliberate move — the photo wasn’t supposed to be seen, it’s leaked, and it’s not from an upcoming photoshop-free issue, which would be amazing. But Marie Claire makes a good point: “No matter where the photo came from, it’s an enlightenment [...]“

If you’re single, Valentine’s Day can be, well frankly, a pain in the ass. However, seeing as it falls on a Saturday this year, you can still have a jolly good time. You can treat it as any other Saturday night or you can make it your special singles V-Day. It’s totally up to you. Here are some suggestions for things to do on Valentine’s Day if you’re single.
Do absolutely nothing.
But make a day of it. Do nothing all day, as a treat to yourself. Don’t do any chores, errands, or cleaning (unless those things make you super happy, in which case, have at it, Monica Gellar!). Just kick back, and relax. Want to do more than nothing? Why not…

So I just learned that an ex boyfriend of mine is getting engaged, which is an odd sort of thing to experience. It’s not that I wish I was with him; I have a wonderful boyfriend that I love; it’s just that it marks a time in my life in which I realize that I’m getting older, in a way that I never realized before: I’m now old enough for ex boyfriends to be getting engaged, and that’s scary. If you’re in my situation, you know that it’s a weird feeling. If you’re not, here are some tips I can offer on what not to do when your ex boyfriend gets engaged. Please note: most of these are not things that I’ve done, but rather, things I recommend not doing.
Need some cheering up? I can help you out. I’ve got some piping hot tweets ready to make you smile and/or laugh, from some stellar women on Twitter. These tweets are sure to make you feel happy and/or inspired. So let’s get started!

Have you ever been in this break-up scenario? You’re ending it, and one of you says, “We should just be friends.” People say it so often it’s hard to tell when it’s sincere, but when it is, it’s something to seriously consider. Truthfully, it can be difficult as hell to stay friends with an ex, but it doesn’t have to be. If you see it through, you can get a trusted friend out of the ashes of your break-up. You can have a friend who knows you really well. Knows your history and your story.
So should you be friends after your break-up? Let’s break it down.
Welcome back to Best Lady Tweets! I’ve been feeling down and out this week, but nothing helps pick me up like a funny tweet. So here are some funny and great tweets from some ladies on Twitter, to lift your spirits, too. Enjoy!

I’m really good at sabotaging relationships. I wish I wasn’t, but I guess it’s just how I’m wired. Usually it’s because I overthink it, but there are many ways to sabotage a relationship, all of which I’m equally gifted in — except for one, and that is, the art of pulling away when you feel you’re getting too close. Perhaps you’ve experienced it.
Psychology Today reported on this way that people close themselves off in relationships, thus self-sabotaging themselves:
I can’t tell you how many people pull back the moment things get close. Caring about another person deeply is a truly painful thing. It makes us value them more, ourselves more and our lives more. Inevitably, it reminds us of time and loss. On another level, love challenges an old and familiar identity. It thrusts us into maturity and forces us to separate from our past. When we get close to someone, it shifts our tectonic plates. It is a poignant and powerful thing that can erupt a dormant volcano of underlying emotions—things we’ve buried and sat on for years. In order to not let these emotions demolish a flourishing relationship, we have to face these deeper scars. We have to recognize the ways we’ve been hurt and understand how those wounds inform our current behavior. This means being willing to feel pain without trying to numb ourselves or gloss over the feelings that come up. We cannot numb pain without numbing joy.
Personally, I’ve never done this, because my problem is, I get too close. But I’m reminded of an ex who did this to me.
